Japanese toy brand SO-TA (State of the Art), which boasts a wide range of product themes from fun trinkets and realistic creatures to collaborations with various sculptors, is set to release a new gashapon series in March 2023: 'Action Robonoid' (アクションロボノイド)! This comes after their previous release of 'Robonoid' (ロボノイド) desktop figures, based on Hayao Miyazaki's directorial debut anime 'Future Boy Conan'.
In the story of 'Future Boy Conan,' the 'Robonoid' is a work machine produced by Industrial Island, used by its residents for various civil engineering tasks. Its sophisticated cockpit, combined with slender mechanical limbs, exudes a nostalgic retro-futuristic feel with a touch of charm. The Robonoid is also a highly active and memorable presence in the series. This articulated 3D rendition of the 'Robonoid' stands at 9 cm tall, making it quite substantial for a gashapon toy. With 12 points of articulation, you can recreate its dynamic poses from the show or even challenge Captain Dyce's exaggerated piloting actions!
This 'Robonoid' gashapon series features a total of 4 collectible variations, including the anime-accurate green color and the Image Board (イメージボード) brown color. Each color comes in two versions: one with the mechanical arms in a clenched fist state and another with them open. Additionally, plain figures of Dyce and Conan are included, allowing you to display them together with the Robonoid. SO-TA has also simultaneously released a box set version with an articulated stand, which is slightly more expensive. Toy enthusiasts, choose according to your needs! This feels like a highly versatile toy.
