Kotobukiya, a Japanese toy company, recently announced that its latest product, "Magatsuki Houten," from the popular bishoujo plastic model kit series "Frame Arms Girl," is scheduled for release in June 2023.
The prototype for Frame Arms Girl Magatsuki originates from the "Frame Arms" series, specifically the lunar faction's base defense Frame Arms "NSG-Z0 Magatsuki," designed by illustrator ToMo. Its distinctive feature is its additional armor, reminiscent of a samurai's armor, and it is equipped with the odachi weapon "TENKAI" and the wakizashi weapon "SATUGA." After being bishoujo-fied by illustrator Eiji Komatsu, Frame Arms Girl Magatsuki inherited this set of additional armor, odachi, and wakizashi weapons, while also incorporating elements of Japanese Shinto (mythology) into her attire. This latest release, "Magatsuki Houten," is an attack-specialized type with even richer armaments.
"FRAME ARMS GIRL Magatsuki Houten" is based on a modified version of the previous regular kit, utilizing the same highly articulated, voluptuous body. It further adds new short hair parts and a mask, and comes with four pre-painted face parts: "cute smiling face," "closed-eye gentle smiling face," "normal front-facing face," and "shouting front-facing face," along with various interchangeable hand parts. The original magenta armor parts have been changed to a vivid red, and transparent armor is represented by clear outer covers combined with mechanical inner frame parts.
In addition to the original odachi weapon "TENKAI" and wakizashi weapon "SATUGA," the armament accessories now include the newly produced large firearm "KYOUTEN" and rifle-type weapon "OOTORI." "TENKAI" and "SATUGA" come with flame-like clear effect blade parts for replacement. The barrel of "KYOUTEN" features a mechanism that allows it to transform into two forms: "convergent cannon fire" and "scattered shot." "OOTORI" can also be combined with the wakizashi weapon "SATUGA" to form a gun-lance configuration.
Furthermore, face thruster parts have been added to the shoulders and legs, and the rear waist features newly added multi-articulated waist cloth parts. Water decals with various patterns are included to reproduce text and patterns such as "Houten" and "Sakura" on the waist cloth and various armor parts. All armor parts and weapons utilize common 3mm peg connections, allowing for self-modification of attachment methods to create more diverse forms. Moreover, parts can be shared with other Frame Arms Girl series, M.S.G series, and other plastic model kits released by Kotobukiya!
