Bandai Spirits' popular soft vinyl toy series 'MOVIE MONSTER' recently announced the latest limited-edition product from the film Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, the 'Super Mechagodzilla', scheduled for release in January 2023.
Appearing in the 1993 film Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, Mechagodzilla is a cutting-edge weapon developed by the United Nations' anti-Godzilla military division 'G-Force'. It was created by analyzing the remains of Mecha-King Ghidorah to acquire 23rd-century future technology, and leveraging development experience from anti-G weapons like 'Super X'. Standing at an impressive 120 meters tall, it is equipped with a vast array of missiles, lasers, and beam cannons. Its armor features an artificial diamond mirror coating that significantly reduces damage from Godzilla's atomic breath and can even absorb its energy, allowing it to unleash its most powerful weapon, the 'Plasma G-Beam', from its abdomen after charging. Mechagodzilla can also combine with the high-speed combat aircraft 'Garuda' to form Super Mechagodzilla, resolving its mobility issues through flight capabilities and further enhancing its overall performance.
The 'MOVIE MONSTER Super Mechagodzilla' is a soft vinyl figure approximately 15.5 cm tall. Its sculpt largely recreates the 1993 Mechagodzilla's armor design, which features numerous curved surfaces, and the backpack-like appearance after combining with Garuda. Details such as the head armor lines, covered joints, and the abdominal Plasma G-Beam emitter are meticulously sculpted, and a cool metallic silver paint application conveys a sense of substantiality.
