Hong Kong toy company Storm Collectibles, renowned for releasing numerous articulated action figures of fighting game characters, will once again launch an articulated figure from SNK's classic fighting game series, Samurai Shodown, in Q3 2023. Following characters like Nakoruru, Haohmaru, and Rasetsumaru, the next highly anticipated character to be released is "Genjuro Kibagami"!
Samurai Shodown (SAMURAI SPIRITS), released by SNK, first debuted on arcade platforms in 1993. The game is characterized by each character wielding their own unique weapon, making it arguably the progenitor of weapon-based fighting games. Its intense effects, such as blood sprays and dismemberment, were also among its selling points.
Genjuro Kibagami (KIBAKAMI GENJURO), who first appeared in the Samurai Shodown sequel, "Samurai Shodown II: Haohmaru's Hell," is a highly popular villain in the series. He is Haohmaru's sworn enemy; both were originally disciples of Nicotine Caffeine. However, after his inner darkness was exposed, Genjuro Kibagami was expelled from their master's tutelage. Afterwards, he took up work as an assassin, constantly eyeing an opportunity to slay Haohmaru. He enjoys frequenting pleasure districts, and his beloved sword is named "Baioh-doku." His special moves often feature Hanafuda card effects.
This Genjuro Kibagami figure from Storm Collectibles is based on his appearance in "Samurai Shodown VI," which is largely consistent with his look in most of his appearances. He is depicted shirtless, with his long red hair tied back. Four interchangeable face sculpts are included. Other accessories include his beloved sword Baioh-doku, a large sake cup for drinking, and three sets of interchangeable hand parts. Additionally, there are two effect parts: one for his projectile attack "Sakura Zansatsu" and another for his anti-air move "Kirihaba Kouyokujin." These can be combined with various poses for a highly realistic display!
