Japanese toy brand GOOD SMILE COMPANY’s affordable pre-painted PVC figure series "POP UP PARADE" is set to release two key characters who stay by the side of Sesshomaru from the classic series Inuyasha: "Rin" and "Jaken" in May 2023!
Inuyasha was created by the legendary Japanese manga artist Rumiko Takahashi, renowned for masterpieces such as Urusei Yatsura and Ranma 1/2. Originally serialized from 1996 to 2008, the story follows the protagonist Kagome Higurashi, who, on her 15th birthday, is dragged into an ancient well at her family shrine by a centipede demon. She travels back 500 years to the Sengoku period and meets the half-demon youth, Inuyasha. Following a series of events, Kagome and Inuyasha embark on a journey to find the shards of the Shikon Jewel.
In the original work, Rin and Jaken are both by Sesshomaru’s side. Rin is an ordinary human girl who faced many hardships in her youth. After being killed by a wolf pack and revived by Sesshomaru using the Tenseiga, she began traveling with him. Her presence gradually changed Sesshomaru, allowing him to show emotion. In the later sequel, Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, she marries Sesshomaru at the age of 18 and gives birth to twin daughters, Towa and Setsuna. Jaken is Sesshomaru's loyal attendant who often looks after Rin after she joins them. He frequently gets pummeled for speaking Sesshomaru's inner thoughts out loud and serves as the demon lord's primary outlet for frustration.
This POP UP PARADE release combines the smaller-scaled Rin and Jaken into a single set, with both standing at approximately 11 cm. Rin is depicted as her young self, wearing her orange and white checkered kimono, looking incredibly joyful and innocent. Jaken is captured in his signature stern expression, never seen without his fire-breathing Staff of Two Heads.
