Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division, creators of the 'HG (High Grade)' series of 1/144 scale Gunpla, renowned for its vast diversity of mobile suits, today announced the latest product from 《Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN MSD》: the "HG 1/144 Full Armor Gundam," scheduled for release in February 2023. This product will be sold exclusively on Bandai's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The FA-78-1 Full Armor Gundam is an "FSWS (Full-armor System and Weapon System)" enhancement plan proposed by the "RX Project" team to heavily arm the RX-78 series mobile suits. It features additional armor on areas with a higher hit probability, such as the chest, shoulders, arms, legs, and waist, along with integrated weaponry. It is equipped with a 360mm rocket launcher, a twin beam cannon on the right arm, chest/leg missile pods, and a control system in the backpack. While adding so much weaponry naturally reduces overall mobility, several auxiliary thrusters have also been added to the backpack and legs.
The "HG 1/144 Full Armor Gundam" is based on a modified THE ORIGIN version RX-78-02 Gundam base body. It utilizes a large number of new parts and molded colors to faithfully recreate the military green additional armor, 360mm rocket launcher, twin beam cannon on the right arm, chest/leg missile pods, and other armaments. It boasts precise cannon barrel articulation and missile pod hatch deployment mechanisms.
Furthermore, all the additional armor and weapons throughout the body can be detached, allowing for the recreation of the internal RX-78 Gundam base body in its unarmored state. The product includes newly designed waterslide decals featuring aircraft markings, which can be used to further enhance the detailed appearance of the Full Armor Gundam.
