Japanese professional basketball team Shimane Susanoo Magic (島根スサノオマジック) recently announced a collaboration event with the hugely popular sci-fi anime "Mobile Suit Gundam." Not only will collaboration merchandise be released starting February 1, 2023, but a special sales booth will also be set up during their home games against Hokkaido Rera Kamuy at Matsue City General Gymnasium on February 4th and 5th of the same month, offering the limited edition Gunpla product "ENTRY GRADE 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam [Shimane Susanoo Magic Color]"!
This collaborative Gunpla is a modified version based on the popular product "ENTRY GRADE 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam" previously released. It not only features the classic protagonist mobile suit "RX-78-2 Gundam" from the original "Mobile Suit Gundam" but also adheres to the "ENTRY GRADE" specifications, making it easy for beginners who have never built a model before to assemble without any tools. The new part molding colors are designed to incorporate the Shimane Susanoo Magic team emblem colors and the uniform image used in the 2022-23 season. It also includes stickers printed with the main visual logo and numbers, allowing for customization of different jersey numbers.

This kit is suitable for builders aged 8 and above. The runner parts are intuitively arranged, with components from the head to the feet laid out in sequence. The gate design eliminates the need for nippers, allowing parts to be easily snapped off by hand, making the assembly process smoother and safer. Although the kit has a modest number of parts, it features multiple molding colors, excellent part separation, and well-designed joint components. It's simple to assemble and faithfully reproduces the mobile suit's colors without the need for painting, while also boasting impressive articulation in the waist and legs.
For those unable to attend the games in person, Shimane Susanoo Magic also plans to begin selling the "ENTRY GRADE 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam [Shimane Susanoo Magic Color]" on their official online store starting at 18:00 JST on February 7, 2023, while supplies last.
