Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa HASEGAWA, known for its realistic fighter jets, battleships, and race cars, will release a 1/72 scale model kit of the protagonist robot 'Xabungle' (ザブングル) from the classic robot anime series 'Combat Mecha Xabungle' in March 2023!

'Combat Mecha Xabungle' (戦闘メカ ザブングル) is a commemorative work for Sunrise Animation's 10th anniversary, which began airing in 1982 and ran for 50 episodes. The original story was a collaboration between Yoshiyuki Tomino and Yoshitake Suzuki, with Yoshiyuki Tomino also serving as the animation director, and Kunio Okawara handling the mechanical design. The entire production team was comprised of masters. The story is set on the planet 'Zora' and follows the protagonist, Jiron Amos (ジロン・アモス), whose parents were murdered by Timp Sharon (ティンプ・シャローン). He breaks the established societal rule of the 'Three-Day Rule' (where a criminal is not pursued if they evade capture for three days) to avenge his parents.

This Xabungle appeared early in the original anime story and was Jiron's initial mobile suit. It is controlled using a steering wheel. When traveling in non-combat situations, it transforms into a vehicle for movement, and then combines into a large robot when entering combat. Its armaments include a rifle, rocket launcher, and a nine-tube missile launcher, among others.
This Xabungle model kit by Hasegawa HASEGAWA is the second product in their 40th-anniversary new product series plan, following the Iron Gear. Released at 1/72 scale, the assembled model stands over 25cm tall. It recreates Xabungle's colors with seven distinct color-separated parts. The elbow and knee joints allow for wide-angle bending, enabling a variety of poses. The cockpit is rendered with clear parts and includes mini figures of Elchi, Rag, and Jiron.
