Following the reinterpretation of Brave Raideen by Eiichi Shimizu, Japanese model maker Sentinel's popular die-cast action figure series 'RIOBOT' has announced an even more luxurious new paint version, the "Brave Raideen Gold ver.", slated for release in March 2023.
Raideen is the giant robot piloted by protagonist Akira Hibiki in the 1975 anime 'Brave Raideen'. Built 12,000 years ago by the Mu Empire, it is the only weapon in the series capable of fighting against the enemy Demon Empire. Normally stored within the Sphinx Rock in its golden bare-metal state, it is activated by Akira Hibiki's psychokinetic powers. It possesses a rich arsenal of weapons, such as bows, swords, boomerangs, and more, and also features a transformation ability, allowing it to change into a raptor-like flight form, 'GOD BIRD'.
This product is identical to the regular version of 'RIOBOT Brave Raideen' released late last year. The overall design has been revamped by manga artist Eiichi Shimizu, blending the original's slender, streamlined physique with modern sharp angles and armor segmentation. Precise details are reproduced using ABS and die-cast parts, and it comes with a rich array of weapons including God Gorgon, God Arrow, and God Breaker. The wing parts feature an entirely new original design, with the wings composed of multiple parts that possess an expansion mechanism. They can also be moved to the front of the body using articulated supports, allowing transformation into the 'GOD BIRD' flight form without needing to swap parts. The head can be fitted with a drill part to recreate the sealed enhanced weapon, 'GOD BIRD HEADCUTTER'.
The difference lies in the full-body paint scheme, which has been replaced with a golden yellow color, as if emerging from the Sphinx Rock. The ABS armor parts are finished with metallic paint to achieve a rich golden hue, while the die-cast parts undergo gold electroplating for an even greater luster. For plastic joint parts that are frequently subject to wear and tear and cannot be painted, a golden molded color is used, ensuring that Raideen exudes a luxurious golden tone from every angle, inside and out!
