Released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., the "S.H.MonsterArts" series, which combines exquisite kaiju sculpting with outstanding articulation technology, today announced the latest product from the 1972 film "Godzilla vs. Gigan," "Gigan (1972)," scheduled for release in July 2023.

The film "Godzilla vs. Gigan," which celebrates its 50th anniversary since release, is the debut work of the popular kaiju Gigan. In the film, the villainous M Space Hunter Nebula Aliens, in order to invade Earth, transformed a space dinosaur into the cyborg kaiju Gigan. Gigan's entire body is equipped with ferocious weapons, including a laser beam cannon on its head, heat rays fired from its mouth, scythe-like giant hammer hands, and rotating blades on its abdomen. Gigan's actions can be controlled by signals transmitted from the "Godzilla Tower" located at their base.

"S.H.MonsterArts Gigan (1972)" features sculpting, coloring, and overall production direction by Japan's foremost kaiju sculptor, Yuji Sakai, who has participated in the production of numerous Godzilla films. Based on materials provided by Toho, the kaiju suit used in 1972 has been thoroughly recreated. The entire body features precise articulation divisions and joint designs, allowing for posing of the head, torso, limbs, and multi-segmented tail.

The distinctive electronic eyes on the head are crafted with a double-layered structure. The skin, reminiscent of King Ghidorah's design, and the tail are intricately sculpted with delicate scales. The back wings are made of transparent material, just like the suit, and can be spread left and right to recreate its flying state. The saw-like blades on the abdomen can also recreate its in-film attack movements thanks to articulated mechanisms!
