Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd.'s GASHAPON capsule toy brand is launching an impressive new "Devil's Flower Mantis" capsule toy as part of its new high-end series, "Ultimate Creatures Encyclopedia." Available in four variations, each turn has a reference price of 1,500 JPY. This product is exclusively available for online gashapon at PREMIUM BANDAI "GASHAPON ONLINE," with shipping scheduled for late February 2023.
"Ultimate Creatures Encyclopedia (Ikimono Dai Zukan Advance)," boasting top-tier size, sculpting, and articulation design, features even more realistic details and exquisite paintwork compared to the standard "Creatures Encyclopedia" products. This release of the "Ultimate Creatures Encyclopedia Devil's Flower Mantis" includes four variations, namely: Devil's Flower Mantis (Female Adult), Devil's Flower Mantis (Male Adult), Devil's Flower Mantis (1st Instar Larva), and Devil's Flower Mantis (Final Instar Larva).
The project enlisted Makoto Kobo, a Japanese biological modeling studio, for prototype supervision. Prototype sculptor Mitsuhiko Hosokawa was responsible for the articulated structure, and Akira Tominaga, editor-in-chief of the reptile specialty magazine "Vivalium Guide," oversaw the color supervision, meticulously recreating realistic details from every angle. With a total length of approximately 150 mm and featuring 30 points of articulation, the sculpt thoroughly reproduces the specimen's form using X-ray CT scans. It was produced with the cooperation of CASTEM Co., Ltd. and Nazumi Masadokoro, representative of Tenshiya Kobo, known for creating insect ecological specimens. Hiroaki Tanaka handled the magnificent paintwork!
