Japanese toy company Qualia, renowned for creating quirky and amusing works, is transforming Japan's explosively popular creative handmade "Onigiri Theater" into gashapon. There will be five different designs, with a reference price of 400 JPY per capsule, scheduled to launch in January 2023!
The "Onigiri Theater (おにぎり劇場)", which teaches creative Japanese rice ball styling, extends the spirit of Japanese character bentos to rice balls. Using classic rice ball ingredients such as sesame, nori (seaweed), soy sauce, and pickled radish, it combines themes like anime characters and cute animals to create lifelike, adorable, and heartwarming rice ball artworks, with tutorial videos uploaded to their YouTube channel.
Qualia is turning the "Street Cats' Gathering (野良猫たちの集会)" creative rice balls from Onigiri Theater into gashapon, releasing various adorable cat-shaped rice balls! The collection includes rice ball cats with sesame paste, sesame powder, nori wrap, soy sauce, and salt flavors. The contours of each individual grain of white rice are meticulously sculpted, and even details like sesame eyes and nori mouths are faithfully reproduced~
