Following the ν Gundam released last year, the new "MS MECHANICAL BUST" Mobile Suit Gundam-themed capsule toy series from Japan's Bandai Toys' GASHAPON brand has today announced its latest product, the "RX-93ff ν Gundam," which will be sold exclusively at LaLaport Fukuoka, the home of the "Life-sized ν Gundam" statue. Capsule machines are expected to be set up for sale starting in late January 2023.
Why release the same Gundam again? In fact, the RX-93ff ν Gundam statue in Fukuoka has many differences from the original anime design. This statue stands at a total height of 24.8 meters and was supervised by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the animation director for Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack and other Universal Century series. Based on the in-show design, some body colors and markings have been refreshed, and a new weapon, the "Long-Range Fin Funnel," has been redesigned to replace the back-mounted Fin Funnels and also function as ground support.
This Fukuoka-exclusive "MS MECHANICAL BUST RX-93ff ν Gundam" can be obtained in three types: "RX-93ff ν Gundam Outer Armor (Colored Ver.)," "RX-93ff ν Gundam Outer Armor (Clear Ver.)," and "Internal Frame & LED Light Set." Once the outer armor parts and internal frame are collected, they can be assembled into a beautifully sculpted ν Gundam bust, approximately 9.5 cm tall, with its eyes and chest sensors capable of emitting green light.
Although this limited edition does not feature the distinctive "Long-Range Fin Funnel" and the entire mold reuses the standard version's design, it faithfully reproduces the brighter color scheme of the Fukuoka statue version. Furthermore, the clear version's armor has been changed to a light blue molded color, presenting a different style from the standard version's clear white.
