Cowabunga! Japanese toy company Good Smile Company's best-selling "Nendoroid" (ねんどろいど) toy series will be releasing Nendoroid figures of the four main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters from the classic series "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". Leonardo and Raphael are scheduled to be released first in August 2023!
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles can be said to be a shared memory for many born in the 60s and 70s. The comic series began in the United States in 1984, but the most memorable version for most is likely the animated series launched in 1987. In Taiwan, CTV introduced it in 1990, allowing many Taiwanese children to experience the charm of these four turtles. It also made everyone particularly familiar with Renaissance artists during history classes.
▼The 1987 version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series theme song:
The designs for these four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Nendoroids are based on their original 1987 appearance, adopting a cuter aesthetic, which is undoubtedly the most nostalgic version. The four turtles are essentially similar in appearance, differentiated primarily by their headband colors, the initial on their belt, and the type of weapon they wield. As the most hot-headed member of the team, Raphael's representative color is red, and his iconic weapon is a pair of uniquely shaped sai. These can also be equipped on his back. He comes with three interchangeable facial expressions and two slices of pizza, the turtles' favorite snack.
