From Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division, the 1/144 scale Gunpla series with the most diverse range of mobile suits, "HG (High Grade)", today announced the latest product from the movie "Mobile Suit Gundam Cucuruz Doan's Island", the "HG 1/144 High Mobility Zaku (Ground Type) (Eguba's Unit)", scheduled for release in April 2023.
The MS-06GD High Mobility Zaku (Ground Type), which appeared in "Mobile Suit Gundam Cucuruz Doan's Island", is a ground combat mobile suit used by the Principality of Zeon's elite unit, the "Southern Cross Team". Its design is based on THE ORIGIN version and was redesigned by Kunio Okawara. Its most prominent feature is the addition of several powerful thrusters to its lower body, allowing it to perform hover movement like a Dom, gliding at high speed across the ground. Each High Mobility Zaku (Ground Type) used by the Southern Cross Team is painted in a desert camouflage, and carries different armaments according to their individual combat styles. Among them, leader Eguba Atler excels in close-quarters combat, and thus carries a machine gun bayonet and a heat sword.
The "HG 1/144 High Mobility Zaku (Ground Type) (Eguba's Unit)" is based on the joint design of previously released THE ORIGIN Zaku-type mobile suits, with nearly 90% completely new armament parts added. Not only does it precisely recreate the added thrusters on the lower body and the hover-capable feet, but the leg joints also adopt a new pull-out structure to greatly enhance the range of motion. The overall exterior can also be combined with the included water decals, printed with unit markings and斑紋 patterns, to recreate the cool desert camouflage!
The characteristic close-combat specialized armaments, the "G-type Modified Drum Magazine MS Machine Gun (with Bayonet)" and the "Heat Sword", are also made with new parts. The bayonet on the machine gun can be detached independently for use as a combat knife and can be stored in the side skirt armor. The heat saber can recreate both its stored state, with the hilt closed and the blade dull, and its activated state, with the hilt extended and the blade glowing yellow, by swapping parts, allowing for cool battle scenes!
