Following the release of "Helm's Deep" to celebrate the 20th anniversary of "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers," world-renowned TV and film special effects company "WETA Workshop" recently unveiled another city environment sculpture: the capital of Gondor, known as the "White City" – "Minas Tirith" – brought to life in three-dimensional form! It is expected to ship in Q3 2023.
In the lore of "The Lord of the Rings," Minas Tirith only became the capital of "Gondor" in the Third Age. It originally served as a fortress defending the western side of the former capital, Osgiliath. However, after Osgiliath's decline for various reasons, Minas Tirith subsequently became Gondor's new capital. Known as the "City of Kings," Minas Tirith is a massive fortress city with a seven-tiered structure. The White Tower, the Court of the Fountain, the White Tree, and the Steward Denethor II's throne room, all seen in the film, are located on the seventh tier. What is most impressive is undoubtedly the city's predominant white aesthetic, making it one of the most captivating fortresses in "The Lord of the Rings" story.
The "Minas Tirith" environment sculpture stands approximately 21 cm tall and measures 46 cm in length. It showcases the majestic seven-tiered architectural structure and the surrounding rocky mountain walls. WETA also stated that the design team responsible for the overall sculpting of this piece is essentially the same team that worked on "The Lord of the Rings" film series. Therefore, it can be definitively said that this Minas Tirith sculpture is a scaled-down replica, directly descended from the majestic City of Kings seen in the films! From the intricate brickwork texture of the city walls, the weathered paint application conveying a sense of age, the White Tower at the summit, to the surrounding mountain scenery, every detail is exquisitely rendered, making this an absolutely essential and epic "Lord of the Rings" themed collectible sculpture!
