Japanese toy company EVOLUTION TOY's premium super alloy robot toy series "Super Metal Action" will release the second work from the classic 90s robot anime "Brave Series", "The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird", specifically the Armed Combination Fighbird (武装合体ファイバード)! It is scheduled for release in July 2023.
"The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird" (太陽の勇者ファイバード) was produced by Japan's SUNRISE animation studio, airing from 1991. It is the second work in the "Brave Series" trilogy, set nine years after "Brave Exkaiser" (勇者エクスカイザー). It describes how the alien evil lifeform "Draias" (ドライアス) and the evil scientist Dr. Jango team up to invade Earth. The Space Police, in pursuit, transform into light and arrive on Earth, possessing various machines developed by Earth scientist "Dr. Amano" and the protagonist android "Yutaro Hoshikawa". A great battle between justice and evil thus begins.
▼ "The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird" Anime Opening Theme Song:
In the original work, when Yutaro Hoshikawa transforms, he first calls the Fire Jet (ファイアージェット). The jet then transforms into its robot mode, while Yutaro Hoshikawa himself transforms into a golden android form, teleports into the Fire Jet, and merges with it to become "Fighbird" (ファイバード). For further combination, he calls upon the support fighter "Flame Blaster" (フレイムブレスター), which then transforms and combines to form the even stronger "Armed Combination" Fighbird (武装合体ファイバード).
This Super Metal Action series "The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird" Armed Combination Fighbird by EVOLUTION TOY stands approximately 18 cm tall. It includes the Fire Jet and the support fighter Flame Blaster from the original Fighbird unit. The Fire Jet can perfectly recreate its aircraft form and transform into Fighbird's robot mode. A mini figure of Yutaro Hoshikawa is also included in the cockpit canopy, and Fighbird's chest accurately reproduces the chest component after Yutaro Hoshikawa transforms into his android form. Thanks to its articulated joints, it can strike various poses, including kneeling.
Furthermore, to transform into Armed Combination Fighbird, the support Flame Blaster can be combined with Fighbird. By swapping out included accessories, the majestic appearance of the Armed Combination can be faithfully recreated! It also comes with its dedicated weapon accessory, the Flame Sword, and multiple sets of interchangeable hand parts to replicate poses from the anime, such as wielding the sword with both hands and firing the Flame Cannon. EVOLUTION TOY also revealed that the even stronger "Great Fighbird" (最強合体 巨大火鳥) Flame Shuttle unit will be released in winter.
