Recreating the Unsinkable Battleship! Japanese toy brand "16 directions" (Japanese: ジュウロクホウイ, meaning "16 directions," commonly abbreviated as 16d), which has released numerous soft vinyl figures of professional wrestlers, is set to release a soft vinyl figure of the legendary classic wrestler "Stan Hansen", scheduled for release in July 2023.
Early Japanese wrestling fans are certainly no strangers to Stan Hansen! He debuted in the United States, later coming to New Japan Pro-Wrestling in the late 70s and early 80s, where he battled many classic wrestlers of the time, including Antonio Inoki, Giant Baba, and even Hulk Hogan. Hailing from Texas, he adopted a cowboy persona as his unique look. His signature move involves hooking his thumb around his middle and ring fingers with his right hand and raising it high while shouting "V." What is most talked about is his finishing move, the "Western Lariat," which he would deliver after pulling up his elbow pad, with such immense power that it could send opponents flying in a full circle. Even the manga "Urayasu Tekkin Kazoku" enjoyed depicting this move in its works.
▼A compilation of Stan Hansen's Lariats:
This Stan Hansen soft vinyl figure from 16d features him in his cowboy attire, wearing a yellow vest and trousers, holding a rope in his right hand, and making his signature "V" gesture with his left hand. The facial expression is incredibly realistic and vivid. The fingers on his left hand and the elbow pad on his arm all evoke memories of the powerful lariats he delivered in the wrestling ring. Wrestling fans will find this a highly worthwhile collectible.
