Jointly launched by Japan's SQUARE ENIX Co., Ltd. and renowned statue brand Prime 1 Studio, the Polystone statue series 'SQUARE ENIX MASTERLINE,' which features SQUARE ENIX's games and published works, officially announced today its latest product, the 'Fullmetal Alchemist 20th Anniversary 1/4 Scale Statue,' slated for release in December 2023.
The design for this release is based on the commemorative illustration specially drawn by original author Hiromu Arakawa for the "Fullmetal Alchemist Exhibition RETURNS" original art exhibition, held in 2021 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Fullmetal Alchemist. It depicts protagonists Edward Elric and Alphonse Elric unleashing their alchemy.
The 'SQUARE ENIX MASTERLINE Fullmetal Alchemist 20th Anniversary 1/4 Scale Statue' is meticulously crafted based on the commemorative illustration by 'Cow Mom' (Arakawa's nickname), with significantly added realistic detail. Standing at an impressive height of approximately 60 cm, it exquisitely captures the textures of clothing fabric and metallic armor. Numerous transparent effect parts are used to depict alchemy, and the characters faithfully reproduce the art style of the original manga.
Edward's head can be swapped between two different smiling expressions, and his right arm can be replaced with a version revealing his automail. The alchemy effect in the center of his hands also features a built-in LED lighting device, capable of recreating the intense glow seen in the original illustration. Al's hands can be interchanged between open-palm and clenched-fist poses. The base is sculpted with an abundance of metallic and rocky alchemical creations, exuding the charm and worldview of Fullmetal Alchemist. It can also be displayed alongside the included "Fullmetal Alchemist 20th Anniversary LOGO Stand"!
