Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS company's collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has announced the latest product from its popular alloy toy「METAL BUILD」series,「Gundam Astray Gold Frame (ALTERNATIVE STRIKE Ver.)」from「Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ASTRAY,」slated for release in August 2023.
TheGundam Astrayseries consists of mobile suits completed by Orb's state-owned enterprise「Morgenroete Inc.」during its collaboration with the Atlantic Federation, by illicitly utilizing the Atlantic Federation's MS development technology to enhance national defense capabilities. However, due to the failure in analyzing「Phase Shift Armor」technology, the armor was instead made from foamed metal, and its surface area was significantly reduced to maintain mobility. Although it lost most of its defensive power, its excellent maneuverability compensated for this drawback. Among them, the Gold Frame, featuring a golden yellow frame, was developed with special specifications, enabling it to utilize GAT series armaments manufactured by the Earth Alliance.
The design of the「METAL BUILD Gundam Astray Gold Frame (ALTERNATIVE STRIKE Ver.)」is fundamentally similar to the previously released Red Frame and Blue Frame. Its frame, constructed with alloy parts, boasts a flexible range of motion and a substantial feel, further enhanced by a luxurious golden yellow electroplated finish. The exterior armor features a matte white base, faithfully reproducing numerous body markings, and showcasing the Astray series' muscle-like armor lines and mechanical heft.
In terms of armaments, in addition to the shield, beam rifle, and beam saber, new parts have been created to reproduce the setting-accurate350mm Linear Cannon「Maga no Ikutachi」– the Duel Gundam's exclusive equipment that Rondo Ghina Sahaku「borrowed」while escaping in this unit during the collapse of Heliopolis – as well as replacement parts to recreate the damaged right arm due to insufficient maintenance. Furthermore, an「Striker Pack Adapter Part」is included, allowing combination with separately sold METAL BUILD Striker Pack series to create forms not seen in the original setting!
