Japan's premier sculpting brand Prime 1 Studio's "Ultimate Premium Masterline" product series recently unveiled its latest creation from the DC Comics masterpiece 《The Dark Knight III: The Master Race》: the "Batman & Robin: Dead End" (tentative translation, バットマン＆ロビン デッドエンド) 1/4 scale diorama statue! Both the Regular Version and the Ultimate Bonus Version will be released simultaneously, with an estimated shipping date of May-August 2024.
This piece is designed based on the comic cover of 《The Dark Knight III: The Master Race》 illustrated by American comic master Jim Lee. Batman is depicted in a weakened state, with a severe injury to his right abdomen, needing to be supported by Robin Carrie Kelley. His gritted teeth expression, the widespread damage to his suit, and the wounds on his right abdomen and right knee powerfully convey the atmosphere of the Dark Knight utterly exhausted after an intense battle. Robin, beside Batman, not only has a strong contrast in costume style but also emphasizes Kelley's petite stature through her action of supporting Batman. The diorama scene is designed based on the interior of the "Tunnel of Love" amusement ride, the location of Batman's epic battle with the Joker, recreating the texture of the water surface and the surrounding rock walls.
Because the setting of this statue is originally Batman and the Joker after an intense battle, fleeing from GCPD pursuit, the Ultimate Bonus Version further incorporates the fallen body of the Joker into the scene. Although a Batarang is impaled in his right eye, his expression is one of extreme ecstasy, once again conveying his abnormal obsession with Batman from the story. Additionally, the Ultimate Bonus Version includes interchangeable head sculpts for Batman and the Joker.
