American toy brand MEZCO TOYZ will launch a new series themed around Japanese giant monsters, "THE KAIJU COLLECTIVE". The first release is from the original "Godzilla" film: "Godzilla (1954) Black & White Version", with a suggested retail price of US$140, estimated to ship from October to December 2023.
The first "Godzilla" film in 1954, shot in black and white, is the progenitor of Japanese monster movies. The First Generation Godzilla appearing in the film is also known as "Gojira" or "The Hydrogen Bomb Monster". This black behemoth, weighing 20,000 tons and standing 50 meters tall, dwells in the deep sea. It is speculated to be a transitional creature that evolved from marine reptiles to terrestrial beasts, but its habitat was destroyed by nuclear tests, causing it to land with hatred and devastate human cities. Tanks and missiles were harmless against it, but its high-temperature heat ray easily engulfed Tokyo in flames. Only Dr. Serizawa's "Oxygen Destroyer" could reduce it to bones.
The new "THE KAIJU COLLECTIVE Godzilla (1954) Black & White Version" measures 12 inches (approximately 30 cm) in length. Its body features a brand-new seamless design with hidden joints, utilizing a flexible yet sturdy internal armature to complete this colossal, unknown creature. The overall paint application faithfully recreates the black and white tones seen in the original tokusatsu film. Its jaw can open and close, and it comes with multiple interchangeable hand gestures, allowing it to be posed with accessories like trains and jets to recreate classic scenes! Additionally, it includes replicas of dilapidated buildings, military tanks, cannons, and a heat ray FX part, perfect for enjoying scenes of immense destructive power and relentless rampage.
