BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd.'s collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has announced the latest product from the transforming alloy model series "HI-METAL R": the "VF-0D Phoenix (Shin Kudo's Machine)" from "Macross Zero," scheduled for release in August 2023.
This product is a modification of the VF-0S released in 2022, utilizing numerous new parts to recreate the D-type piloted by protagonist Shin Kudo in the series. It features a distinctive two-seat cockpit, two pairs of movable high-maneuverability canards, and the most iconic movable delta main wings. It also incorporates some alloy parts for the movable frame, allowing for cool three-stage transformations into Fighter, Gerwalk, and Battroid modes.
In Battroid mode, new parts are also used to recreate the head sculpt, and small main wings can be replaced to ensure a wide range of articulation. Accessories include main wings for missile pylons, medium-range air-to-air missiles, a GUNPOD, nose pitot tubes, missile launchers, landing gear, and other abundant content, allowing for various armaments to be mounted in each mode. The dedicated display stand uses the same molded color as Roy Focker's machine, but the printed emblem has been changed to Shin Kudo's original emblem.
