Brazilian statue manufacturer Iron Studios recently unveiled several new products. This article will bring you information on the 1/20 scale "Demi Scale" series, featuring the "Iron Giant and Hogarth Hughes" full statue from the 1999 animated film "The Iron Giant."
"The Iron Giant," adapted from Ted Hughes' novel of the same name, is set in 1957 during the Cold War between the US and the Soviet Union. The protagonist, Hogarth, whose mother often worked overtime, was lonely and always wanted a pet for companionship. One day, Hogarth thought an alien had appeared deep in the forest and went to investigate. However, what awaited him was not strange extraterrestrial life, but a colossal robot devouring the steel structures of a power station as if they were food!
Initially terrified, Hogarth ran for his life after witnessing this. But upon seeing the Iron Giant in immense pain from being entangled in power lines and touching high voltage, Hogarth bravely rescued the giant robot. They later became good friends. Hogarth taught the Iron Giant language, played with him, watched superhero comics together, and even witnessed the death of a deer. Until one day, during play, Hogarth's toy gun accidentally activated the Iron Giant's automatic defense mechanism. Meanwhile, government forces were gradually closing in on the Iron Giant's location...
This piece stands at an impressive 60.6 cm, creating a significant presence. It faithfully recreates the Iron Giant's memorable appearance from the film, designed with him raising his right hand and looking at his small companion, Hogarth, in his palm. This perfectly captures his characteristic blend of being a powerful steel giant yet often displaying a childlike innocence. The Iron Giant's body is finished with a heavy metallic paint application, with subtle weathering and gradients enhancing the overall realism. Hogarth's expression, looking back at the Iron Giant as if delighted, is also excellent. Coupled with the base depicting the Rockwell, Maine forest environment, it further evokes memories of the Iron Giant and Hogarth playing in the movie.
