Japanese toy company Qualia, known for creating quirky-themed and hilariously fun works, has once again launched a popular second installment following "Stretching Moai": the comical gashapon "Stretching Moai 2". There are a total of six styles, with a suggested retail price of 300 JPY per capsule, and an expected release in March 2023.
The Moai statues of Easter Island, one of the world's eight wonders, remain shrouded in mystery. Among the nearly 900 known statues, besides the majority that only show their heads, the lower bodies of the colossal statues, buried underground for many years, have also been successively unearthed by archaeological teams in recent years. As this discovery broke the previous understanding that Moai statues only consisted of heads and torsos above the chest, Moai with bodies and limbs have become a popular subject for parody recently.
The "Qualia Stretching Moai 2" gashapon continues the hilarious concept of the previous work, combining the Moai statue's body with stretching exercises, and adds even more challenging poses: Bridge Moai, Hip Joint Stretch Moai, Waist Stretch Moai, Deep Leg Stretch Moai, Inner Thigh Stretch Moai, and Arm Stretch Moai. The slender and flexible bodies, contrasted with the heavy, expressionless large heads, create a comical effect!
