Hong Kong toy manufacturer Soap Studio is set to release two new vinyl figures from "SpongeBob SquarePants" in May 2023: "Cursed SpongeBob" and "Cursed Patrick Star"!
SpongeBob and Patrick Star transformed into ghosts because they disturbed the "Flying Dutchman" and even shaved off his beard with a lawnmower. In a fit of rage, the Flying Dutchman cursed them, turning them into mermaids ghosts! Initially, the two found it novel and fun, going to prank Squidward (but it didn't work well, and they were sprayed with water). However, after becoming ghosts, the phenomenon of everything passing through their bodies gradually bothered them. Besides not being able to sleep properly, Patrick couldn't eat anything, and SpongeBob couldn't work. The two tearfully had to beg the Flying Dutchman to help them return to their original forms.
To depict SpongeBob and Patrick Star after being cursed in the show, Soap Studio has crafted these two characters using a translucent color scheme. Aside from the ghostly tails at the bottom, the overall look is quite distinct from the green-glowing visual effects in the series. Their wide-eyed, smile-less expressions surely convey the various inconveniences of becoming ghosts. Displaying both figures together is truly fascinating, highly recommended for "SpongeBob SquarePants" fans.
