BANDAI CANDY, the Shokugan division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from the movie "Shin Kamen Rider," the "Kamen Rider No. 2 & Cyclone Set," from the new series "Shodo XX," an evolution of the popular action figure Shokugan "Shodo," scheduled for release in September 2023.
This product is based on "Shin Kamen Rider," the 50th-anniversary commemorative work of Kamen Rider, which premiered in March 2023. Directed by Hideaki Anno, it's a reinterpretation of the original "Kamen Rider," featuring a new protagonist, Takeshi Hongo, played by talented young actor Sosuke Ikematsu. With a modern style infused with nostalgic elements, it takes audiences back to the days when Kamen Rider No. 1 and No. 2 teamed up to fight the evil organization "Shocker," which sought to conquer the world. The designs of the Kamen Riders and monsters appearing in the film have also been faithfully recreated.
The "Shodo XX Kamen Rider No. 2 & Cyclone Set" features a highly articulated body, approximately 10 cm tall, meticulously reproducing the distinct head, limb sculpts, and belt colors that differentiate him from No. 1 in the film. Characteristic details like his exposed hair are also faithfully rendered. Through interchangeable parts, two poses can be recreated: with or without his coat, as well as two styles for his red scarf: hanging still or fluttering in the wind.
The set includes various interchangeable hand parts, allowing for dynamic combat poses such as his signature Rider Kick, utilizing the highly flexible joints. The design of his dedicated motorcycle, the "Cyclone," largely reuses the No. 1 version, with a change in the exhaust pipe color. Its overall proportion matches Kamen Rider No. 2, enabling him to ride it and recreate iconic scenes from the film.
