Japan's X-PLUS Co., Ltd. (株式会社エクスプラス) is set to release a new product in its highly popular and exquisitely detailed Q-version scale figure series, DefoReal. Based on the monster film "Godzilla: Tokyo SOS," the new item will be the "Godzilla (2003)" pre-painted figure, available in both a standard edition and a "Shonen RIC" store exclusive edition, with an anticipated release in June 2023.
"Godzilla: Tokyo SOS" (ゴジラ×モスラ×メカゴジラ 東京SOS), officially titled "Godzilla x Mothra x Mechagodzilla: Tokyo SOS," is the 27th film in the Godzilla series, released in Japan in December 2003. It serves as a sequel to "Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla" and is the only direct sequel in the "Millennium Series."
The story is set one year after the great battle between Mechagodzilla and Godzilla. Due to severe damage, Mechagodzilla lost its right arm and the Absolute Zero Cannon. It is repaired using weapons crafted from Godzilla's bones. However, the Shobijin from Infant Island wish for humanity to return Godzilla's bones to the sea, warning that "if humanity deploys Kiryu, Mothra will become an enemy of mankind." They hope to halt the Kiryu repair project...
The "DefoReal Godzilla (2003)" pre-painted figure stands approximately 12.5 cm tall and measures 22 cm in length. It faithfully recreates Godzilla's reptilian-like head, sharp, massive dorsal fins, and the spiky, rough black hide covering its entire body, all rendered in an exquisitely detailed Q-version scale. The sharp teeth, formidable claws, and intricately sculpted thorny skin exude a strong sense of biological realism. A scar from Mechagodzilla's attack is visible on its chest, and its dorsal fins feature a striking silver paint application. Both its overall sculpt and its gaze are remarkably sharp and spirited.
