Bandai Namco Entertainment Japan's new sci-fi IP, 《SYNDUALITY》, is set to launch its TV anime and video game adaptations sequentially throughout 2023. Naturally, Bandai hasn't forgotten its core business of model toys. The HOBBY Division of BANDAI SPIRITS Japan recently announced that the latest product from the robot plastic model 『HG (High Grade)』 series for 《SYNDUALITY》, "Gilbow", is scheduled for release in August 2023.
The robots appearing in the series are bipedal walking robots known as "CRADLE COFFIN", also referred to as "All-Weather Cruising Bipeds". To contend with the unavoidable battles and harsh environments encountered during AO crystal recovery, they are equipped with a variety of armaments. In addition to the pilot, the machine's back features a space called the "coffin", designed to carry the pilot's partner, a "MAGUS". A MAGUS is a humanoid equipped with a human-like dual-thought AI, providing excellent assistance in exploration and combat.
This "Gilbow" is the machine piloted by the mysterious man, Black Mask, in the series. Like the protagonist's machine, Daisy Ogre, it was designed by the renowned mechanical designer Ippei Gyobu. The model kit faithfully reproduces its unique body proportions and black-and-white color scheme through precise part separation and color molding techniques. Its limbs feature multiple articulation points for flexible posing, and the leg thrusters also have individual movable mechanisms. By replacing certain parts, its transformed floating mode can also be recreated.
Both the cockpit and the coffin on the back feature opening mechanisms, allowing for the placement of mini figures of Black Mask and his MAGUS partner, Schunne. For weaponry, it includes a handheld rifle and a missile launcher on the back with a hatch-opening mechanism. The large weapon mounted on the left arm, the "Energy Impact Blade", can also be deployed and fitted with blade effect parts for recreation. Additionally, the product comes with a dedicated display stand and decals to reproduce the distinctive red markings on the machine.
