Today, TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., announced the latest product from its popular 『S.H.Figuarts』 articulated figure series: "Eleking" from Ultraseven, scheduled for release in September 2023.
Designed by Tohl Narita, the space monster Eleking first appeared in episode 3 of Ultraseven, which aired in 1967. He is a giant beast cultivated by the Pitt Aliens in Lake Azuma for their invasion of Earth, capable of receiving and being controlled by command signals from the Pitt Aliens. Despite Eleking's seemingly cute and harmless appearance, reminiscent of a sea slug, he possesses an exceptionally long and flexible tail that can bind enemies before unleashing a 500,000-volt electric shock. Furthermore, various parts of his body can emit powerful discharge beams for attack. The highly popular Eleking has subsequently reappeared in numerous Ultraman series, making him one of the few monsters to span the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras, and was once voted the most memorable monster from Ultraseven.
Under the thorough supervision of Tsuburaya Productions' LSS sculpting department, the "S.H.Figuarts Eleking" is meticulously sculpted as an articulated figure, standing approximately 16.5 cm tall. The design is based on the suit from his first appearance in episode 3 of Ultraseven, featuring skin covered in fine wrinkles and irregular black stripes. The head utilizes clear parts to replicate the distinctive colorless, transparent texture of his mouth, and both antennae can rotate just as they did in the show.
For articulation, the entire body features flexible designs that do not compromise the integrity of the sculpt, allowing for dynamic posing of all major joints to recreate scenes from the series. Notably, the tail is also reproduced with its impressive length and incorporates multiple articulated segments for flexible bending. With interchangeable parts, you can even recreate the action of binding enemies with his tail for an electric shock. Pair him with the separately sold Ultraseven figure to vividly recreate iconic battle scenes from the show!
