Following the High Mobility Zaku (Ground Type) (Egba's Unit), the 'HG (High Grade)' series of 1/144 scale Gunpla, known for its most diverse range of mobile suits and released by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., recently announced the release of two new products from the animated film "Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island": the "High Mobility Zaku (Ground Type) (Wald's Unit)" and "High Mobility Zaku (Ground Type) (Selma's Unit)". Both are scheduled for limited release on PREMIUM BANDAI in April 2023.
Appearing in "Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island," the MS-06GD High Mobility Zaku (Ground Type) is a ground-combat mobile suit utilized by the Principality of Zeon's elite "Southern Cross Team." Its design is based on THE ORIGIN version and was re-designed by Kunio Okawara. Its most prominent feature is the addition of several powerful thrusters to its lower body, allowing it to perform hover-gliding movements similar to a Dom, enabling high-speed terrestrial traversal. Each High Mobility Zaku (Ground Type) used by the Southern Cross Team is painted in a desert camouflage scheme and carries different armaments according to their individual combat styles.
While product details for both new items have not yet been announced, the sample images reveal that the overall design still reuses parts from Egba's unit. The head features a non-commander type without an antenna. Water-slide decals are also included to recreate the full-body camouflage and unit markings. New parts are used to produce various armaments, such as the sniper rifle used by Wald's unit and the bazooka used by Selma's unit.
