French high-end statue brand Kitsune Statue is set to release a product based on the classic manga "Hajime no Ippo"—the WBA World Middleweight Champion "Mamoru Takamura" 1/6 scale statue! Limited to 300 pieces worldwide, with a suggested retail price of €457.50, pre-orders are now open on their official website, and it is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2024.
Created by Japanese manga artist George Morikawa, the boxing series "Hajime no Ippo" (はじめの一歩) has been serialized for over 30 years since 1989, with over 129 tankōbon volumes. It is hailed as one of the flagship manga of "Weekly Shōnen Magazine" representing the Heisei era. The story centers on Ippo Makunouchi, a boy who is always bullied, and primarily recounts his journey into the Kamogawa Boxing Gym to learn boxing, striving to become a true strongman through countless battles.
The WBA World Middleweight Champion, known as the "Hawk of Japan," Mamoru Takamura (たかむら まもる, early Taiwanese translation Chen Ying-tsun), is a wealthy scion born into "Takamura Development." Due to his wild and impulsive nature, often causing trouble, he was kicked out of his home and embarked on the path of boxing under the guidance of Chairman Kamogawa. During his mountain training, he once defeated a bear bare-handed, leaving bear claw scars on his chest. Since his debut, he has maintained an undefeated record, and is also recognized by the author as the strongest character in the series.
The Kitsune Statue "Mamoru Takamura" 1/6 scale statue, standing approximately 34 cm tall, is crafted from high-quality resin. It meticulously captures Takamura's poised stance, vividly sculpting the exposed upper body muscles and bulging veins. The bear claw scars on his chest are also carefully rendered, with shadow painting applied to make the skin texture more three-dimensional and realistic. His ready-to-punch stance with a coiled body, his wild pompadour hairstyle, and his bold and powerful gaze all contribute to the champion's undeniable dominance! The details of his boxing gloves, the logo on his boxing shorts, and the design of his boxing shoes are also meticulously presented in terms of costume accessories!
Highlights include the Japanese flag on the base, the championship medal from his world title belt, and the Takamura Club logo.
