Japanese gashapon brand TOYS SPIRITS, known for creating works that combine delicate appearance with fun functions in small sizes, is scheduled to release a gashapon full of nostalgia in June 2023: "It Really Records! Retro Mini Portable Player" (本当に録音再生！レトロｍｉｎｉポータブルプレイヤーマスコット)!
The "portable player," a legendary device that today's children may have never seen, is a cherished memory for many old-school toy enthusiasts. Especially memorable were moments like having to flip cassette tapes to play the other side, often fast-forwarding/rewinding too far, or accidentally erasing painstakingly recorded content. This gashapon-version player pays homage to Sony's Walkman, released in 1979. Measuring approximately 5 cm, it features a space in the upper right corner for a ball chain, allowing it to be hung on a bag. Not only can it be opened to insert a cassette tape, but it can also genuinely record and play back about 20 seconds of content using its buttons, which is incredibly interesting!
The "It Really Records! Retro Mini Portable Player" comes in a total of 5 styles. A, B, C, and D are combinations of the player and a cassette tape, differentiated by their color schemes. E includes a cassette tape, a plastic case, and five colored label papers for categorization and marking. The attention to detail is immense! It's definitely a must-buy full set to relive the old-school ritual of listening to music!
