The popular action figure 'S.H.Figuarts' series, released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, following Kamen Rider No. 1, has once again announced the commercialization of "S.H.Figuarts Takeshi Hongo" from the movie "Shin Kamen Rider," with the release date yet to be determined.
Released in March 2023, the Kamen Rider 50th anniversary commemorative work "Shin Kamen Rider" is a reinterpretation of the original "Kamen Rider" by director Hideaki Anno. It stars talented young actor Sosuke Ikematsu as the new generation's Takeshi Hongo, offering audiences a fresh story where Kamen Rider No. 1 and No. 2 team up to fight the mysterious organization "SHOCKER," presented in a modern style infused with nostalgic elements. Naturally, the design of Kamen Rider No. 1, transformed by the protagonist Takeshi Hongo, has also undergone appropriate renovation, retaining its original silhouette while being given a cooler, more mechanical and bio-organic design, along with a new setting featuring exposed skin on the neck and hair.
From the currently released information and prototypes, it can be seen that "S.H.Figuarts Takeshi Hongo (Shin Kamen Rider)" is based on the previously released "Kamen Rider No. 1" body, with an additional head sculpt created using digital coloring technology to faithfully reproduce the face of Japanese actor Sosuke Ikematsu, who plays Takeshi Hongo in the film, as well as a Kamen Rider helmet that can be held in hand.
