Issued by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., the "RG (Real Grade)" Gunpla series, which incorporates internal frames, interlocking armor, and new technologies into 1/144 scale models, today announced the latest product to be used with the Hi-ν Gundam: the "RG 1/144 Hi-ν Gundam Fin Funnel Effect Set," scheduled for release in July 2023. This product will be sold exclusively on Bandai's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The Fin Funnel is the iconic armament of the RX-93-2 Hi-ν Gundam. Normally, six units are mounted on both sides of the Hi-ν Gundam's backpack. Equipped with small engines and AMBAC units, they possess high-power beams and superior endurance. Compared to the ν Gundam's funnels, they can not only be re-docked to the backpack but also recharged with energy via the backpack. Pilot Amuro Ray can remotely control the Fin Funnels via brainwaves through the Psycho-Frame, allowing them to fold into a U-shape to fire beam attacks, or deploy an "I-Field Barrier" around the mobile suit to defend against all-directional beams.
The "RG 1/144 Hi-ν Gundam Fin Funnel Effect Set" requires the separately sold RG 1/144 Hi-ν Gundam main unit. The product includes a large display base, clear support rods, and beam effects and jet effects that can be attached to the Fin Funnels. The 6 jet effects are essentially the same as the previous ν Gundam version, but their molding color has been changed to clear blue. The beam effects are newly molded parts, featuring two pieces each for three different states: charging, standby for launch, and firing.
By combining the large display base with the clear support rods, the Fin Funnels can be arranged around the Hi-ν Gundam, recreating scenes where all 6 funnels are deployed and firing. Furthermore, all three types of beam effects can also be attached to the ν Gundam's Fin Funnels, allowing for a greater variety of beam states compared to the ν Gundam's dedicated Fin Funnel effect set.
