Japan's toy brand Kaiyodo, known for its "Amazing Yamaguchi" (アメコミヤマグチ) series which focuses on American superheroes with astonishing articulation, is set to release its latest product based on the MARVEL series "Moon Knight": the "Moon Knight" action figure. The suggested retail price is 12,650 JPY, with an anticipated release in December 2023.
The Marvel Comics superhero, Moon Knight, whose real name is Marc Spector in the comic's lore, suffers from dissociative identity disorder with multiple personalities. He has held various identities including U.S. Marine, CIA operative, and mercenary. On one occasion, hired by the bloodthirsty Raoul Bushman to find an Egyptian pharaoh's tomb in the Republic of Sudan, he was abandoned in the desert to die for disobeying orders. On the verge of death, Marc made a pact with the ancient Egyptian moon god Khonshu, transforming into "Moon Knight" to protect those who walk in the night.
The "Amazing Yamaguchi Moon Knight" action figure stands approximately 17 cm tall, featuring over 16 points of articulation throughout its body. It meticulously recreates the grayish-white bandages and costume that wrap around his body, adorned with golden crescent-shaped elements in various places. The mysterious cape on his back is made from fabric with embedded wires, allowing it to be posed with the wide cowl to form a crescent moon silhouette! The figure's articulation incorporates mechanisms repeatedly researched by Yamaguchi, with split sections on both sides of the torso, shoulders that can move forward and backward, and hip joints combining ball joints and single axes, enabling natural poses.
Accessories include crescent-shaped shurikens – crescent darts – in various sizes, and two batons of different lengths. In addition to the regular face under the cowl, an angry face is also included, with glow-in-the-dark paint used for the eyes, allowing them to shine in the dark! Furthermore, a black expression part is available as a Kaiyodo store exclusive.
