From Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division, the "HG (High Grade)" series of 1/144 scale Gunpla, known for its most diverse range of mobile suits, today announced the latest product from the animated film "Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island", the "HG 1/144 Ground Type High Mobility Zaku (Selma's Machine)", scheduled for release in August 2023.
The MS-06GD Ground Type High Mobility Zaku, which appeared in "Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island", is a ground-combat mobile suit utilized by the Principality of Zeon's elite "Southern Cross Team". Its design is based on THE ORIGIN version and was re-designed by Kunio Okawara. Its most prominent feature is the addition of several powerful thrusters to its lower body, allowing it to perform hover movement like a Dom, gliding at high speeds across land. Each Ground Type High Mobility Zaku used by the Southern Cross Team is painted in a desert camouflage scheme and carries different armaments according to their individual combat styles.
This release features the Ground Type High Mobility Zaku piloted by Selma, the only female member of the team. The kit largely reuses the design of Eguba's machine, adding nearly 90% new armament parts based on THE ORIGIN Zaku series joints to recreate its appearance from the film. It also includes a standard head without an antenna and two types of mid-range support armaments: the "Bazooka Type B2" and "Gunblade". Additionally, the kit will come with water-slide decals to reproduce the desert camouflage and markings across the mobile suit's body.
