Japan's toy company Good Smile Company's best-selling "Nendoroid" (ねんどろいど) toy series is scheduled to release a Nendoroid figure of the NPC character "Toriel" (TORIEL) from the indie video game 《Undertale》 in August 2023!
《Undertale》 (also known as "Jiyu Densetsu," "Densetsu no Shita," or "Chika Densetsu") is an indie RPG game created by Toby Fox and released in 2015. Players take on the role of a human child who falls into the Underground, a world separated by a magical barrier. The game's unique feature lies in its bullet-hell-like combat system. The story primarily begins with a past conflict between the two races, humans and monsters. After experiencing a series of events and adventures, players will face the choice of sparing or killing, and the final ending will differ accordingly.
TORIEL (generally translated as Toriel) is the second NPC character players encounter in the game. Her appearance is somewhat like a white goat, yet her overall design resembles a kind and gentle elder. She wears a large, wide blue dress or robe adorned with a delta rune pattern. Her initial attitude towards the player is very friendly, guiding them step-by-step to familiarize themselves with the game, much like a tutorial. In reality, TORIEL has a long and complex story; when players insist on venturing into the Underground, she will engage in battle with them, filled with determination, to ensure they are capable of the adventure. Her interests include cooking and aspiring to be a teacher.
This Nendoroid rendition of TORIEL stands at a height of 11 cm, slightly taller than the usual 10 cm. It faithfully recreates TORIEL's in-game appearance in a cartoonish style, with smooth and gentle lines, truly embodying a kind goat mother. It comes with three interchangeable face plates: a standard smiling face, a shy face, and a serious battle face for when she confronts the player. In addition to interchangeable hand parts, it also includes her favorite "Butterscotch Cinnamon Pie" accessory.
