Japan's official Mobile Suit Gundam Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, recently announced that the latest event-exclusive product, "HG 1/144 V2 Assault Buster Gundam [Clear Color]," is scheduled to go on sale starting May 3, 2023.
The protagonist mobile suit from the anime "Mobile Suit V Gundam," the LM314V23+24 V2 Assault Buster Gundam, is a high-mobility assault heavy artillery support form enhanced from the V2 Gundam. It is simultaneously equipped with the "Buster Pack," featuring medium-to-long-range high-firepower armaments such as the Mega Beam Cannon, and the "Assault Pack," designed for medium-range combat with its golden anti-beam coating and I-field generator. Its extremely high mobility and firepower offer overwhelming performance against both battleships and mobile suits. Thanks to the immeasurable thrust provided by the Minovsky Drive, even with a significant increase in body weight, its mobility remains unaffected, and the massive surplus energy forms a powerful "Wings of Light" on its back.
The "HG 1/144 V2 Assault Buster Gundam [Clear Color]" is based on the regular release kit from 2015. While its detailed sculpting may not be as refined as recent HG products, and it has some noticeable hollow parts and uncolored components, it still faithfully reproduces the substantial heavy equipment of the Assault Buster form. It also offers the option to assemble it as either the V2 Assault Gundam or the V2 Buster Gundam independently. In addition to armaments such as the Mega Beam Cannon, Mega Beam Shield, Mega Beam Rifle, Variable Speed Beam Rifle, and Micro Missile Pods, it also includes the V2 Core Fighter.
This clear color limited edition, aside from the dark gray joints and armaments, features transparent molded parts for the white, blue, gold, yellow, and red components, creating a unique, highly translucent hue. This also makes it more convenient for special customization techniques such as adding lighting or glow-in-the-dark paint, allowing for a style distinct from regular Gunpla.
