BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Division, TAMASHII NATIONS, today announced the latest product based on Yokohama's "RX-78F00 Gundam Life-Size Movable Statue," the "DX Chogokin RX-78F00 GUNDAM," scheduled for release in December 2023.
The "RX-78F00 Gundam" standing at Yokohama's Yamashita Pier features significant design differences compared to previous First Gundam designs. In contrast to the Odaiba Gundam, which relatively restored the original settings, the Yokohama Gundam has a miniaturized head and backpack, and also incorporates suggestions from director Yoshiyuki Tomino, resulting in a visually more slender physique. Bandai sets the backstory of the RX-78F00 after the One Year War, where Amuro Ray's missing mobile suit, the "RX-78-2 Gundam," was discovered by Earth Federation-related facilities in the Far East Asian region. Utilizing the large amount of wreckage found, it was researched, analyzed, and rebuilt, ultimately completing the "RX-78F00 Gundam" established at GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA.
Unlike the previously released "Chogokin RX-78F00 Gundam," the "DX Chogokin RX-78F00 GUNDAM" boasts a much larger size and a more luxurious sound and light performance. This product thoroughly recreates the Yokohama movable statue, including the Gundam main body and its hangar. The Gundam body alone stands at an impressive 37 cm tall, and with the hangar, it reaches a powerful 47 cm in height!
The RX-78F00 Gundam's movable frame is constructed with some alloy parts, offering a flexible range of articulation, allowing it to be posed in cool battle stances with accessories such as the beam rifle, beam saber, and shield. Furthermore, all external armor parts, except for the head and feet, are detachable. Even the internal frame is crafted to match the actual statue's design, and the removed armor can be displayed on the side of the hangar.
Moreover, this DX Chogokin version also features luxurious sound and light effects. LED lights are embedded in the Gundam's head camera, twin eyes, chest, cockpit, left and right shoulders and knees, and the base. Through two performance modes recorded in the base, it can play a 7-minute and 50-second "Startup Experiment" and a 2-minute "BEYOND THE TIME" mode. Accompanied by sound effects, most lights will illuminate in conjunction, creating an immersive experience akin to the actual performances at GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA.
