[Unboxing] MEGAHOUSE - Future GPX Cyber Formula SIN - Ogre AN-21 -Livery Edition- DX SET

Hello everyone, today I'll be unboxing and sharing the Ogre AN-21 -Livery Edition- DX SET from "Future GPX Cyber Formula SIN," produced by MEGAHOUSE.

Back in January of last year, when I unboxed the ν-Asurada AKF-0/G Livery Edition from "Future GPX Cyber Formula SIN," I said,
"This exquisitely painted version is a godsend for someone like me with clumsy hands. Why didn't the original manufacturer do this sooner?"
And then, not long after, I saw that the Ogre was also getting this treatment! XD

But it's not surprising.
As the final two protagonist vehicles in the OVA, both their competitive scenes and vehicle designs are absolutely spectacular.
When many people think of Cyber Formula, besides the Asurada, the Ogre is likely the next vehicle that comes to mind.

The original name for 凰呀 is "Ogre." The Chinese name "凰呀" is a phonetic translation of the Japanese pronunciation of "Ogre."
It was named "Ogre" because its AI automatically determines when to transform while driving and can execute these transformations without the driver's consent.
Therefore, the driver needs to have the corresponding skill to cooperate with the vehicle, or accidents are highly likely.
Even a driver as skilled as Kaga in the series struggled significantly while adapting, even crashing, though not seriously.
During the initial vehicle testing, two test drivers lost their lives, earning the car its name: Ogre.

Let's get to the pictures.

The cover art features the Ogre in its Super Booster mode.
The "2022" and "17th" in the top left corner don't mean that 2022 is the 17th anniversary of Cyber Formula.
Instead, it refers to the 17th Grand Prix in the Cyber Formula world. The bottom right corner lists the World Champion driver, vehicle, and team for that year.
This might be confusing for those unfamiliar with the series.

The cover can be opened; it's magnetic.
The design inside is fantastic, featuring driver information and various scenes from the end of the anime.
When I opened it, memories of the show came flooding back.

There are two layers of contents.
The top layer holds the vehicle itself, the driver figure, and the interchangeable parts for Aero Mode and Booster Mode.
The bottom layer contains the parts for Mirage Turn Mode and Super Booster Mode.

The instruction manual is printed directly on the box, saving paper! XD

This background sheet inside the box (I don't actually know the official name for this part)
also has the champion driver's information printed on it, which is a nice touch.

These five photos seem to be a special bonus, all rendered in 3D.
A very thoughtful detail is that the bottom right corner of each says "Photo by Aya Stanford."
Aya Stanford is the short, blonde-haired racing journalist in the series who has a crush on Kaga.

Detail shots.
The factory paint job is really excellent. Some might find it ordinary compared to the work of master customizers,
but you have to consider the price difference between the two.

Mirage Turn Mode. The principle behind this is roughly:
by transforming, the car increases downforce, allowing the Ogre to change lines quickly and overtake during a turn.
To the car in front, which can only see behind through its rearview mirrors, the Ogre's line change is so fast that it appears in both the left and right mirrors simultaneously, creating the illusion of two Ogres—a mirage.

I really think the Ogre looks like a rocket in this form.

The small figure of Kaga.

And that concludes the introduction of the contents.
Perhaps learning from the experience with the last Asurada, many people now understand just how amazing these factory-painted versions are.
As a result, there seem to be fewer cries of "I missed the pre-order!" or "The in-stock price is so expensive!" this time for the Ogre.
For fellow fans who are still on the fence, this is definitely worth buying for your collection. Displayed alongside the previously released Asurada, it looks both cool and beautiful.
