The affordable pre-painted figure series "POP UP PARADE," produced by the Japanese hobby manufacturer GOOD SMILE COMPANY, recently announced the latest addition from the classic sci-fi anime Martian Successor Nadesico: "Ruri Hoshino," scheduled for release in November 2023.
This release features the immensely popular loli character from Martian Successor Nadesico, Ruri Hoshino. Raised through "special education" from a young age, she possessed an extraordinary genius intellect and exceptional battleship operation skills by the age of 11, earning her the title "Electronic Fairy." Ruri considers the Nadesico's main computer, "Omoikane," her closest friend, while maintaining distance from other humans and rarely showing emotion. After the war against the "Jovian Lizards" ended, she was adopted by the protagonists Akito Tenkawa and Yurika Misumaru, gaining her first true "family." In just five short years, she would grow into a respected Captain.
"POP UP PARADE Ruri Hoshino" captures her 11-year-old appearance from the TV series in a 16 cm tall figure. Based on the original anime designs, it meticulously recreates the distinctive eye style of that era, her youthful and cute "kuudere" expression, and her iconic silver-white twin-tails. The Nergal Industries uniform, featuring a pencil skirt, is finished with rich paintwork and detailed printing, accurately reproducing the logos on her chest and shoulders. The overall sculpt is quite impressive—and you can bring the adorable Ruri home for just 4,800 Yen!
