Hong Kong toy brand threezero recently unveiled a prototype of their new product, the "Figzero Gridman 1/6 Scale Articulated Figure," at their new product exhibition "threezero in Tokyo 2023" held in Tokyo. While the release date is yet to be determined, many detailed product specifications have been revealed.
The Gridman showcased this time is his original appearance from the 1993 tokusatsu series "Denkou Choujin Gridman." He was originally a non-corporeal energy lifeform, a HYPER AGENT, who came to the human world to pursue the interdimensional criminal "Demon King Kahn Digifer." He resided within the assembled computer "JUNK" in the secret base of the protagonists Naoto Sho, Ippei Baba, and Yuka Inoue, taking on the form designed by Ippei. When Kahn Digifer unleashed monsters to attack the computer world, Gridman merged with Naoto to stop them, utilizing various weapons and support machine programs written by Yuka to enhance his combat abilities, and also capable of repairing the damaged computer world with light beams.
The "Figzero Gridman 1/6 Scale Articulated Figure" boasts an impressive height of approximately 31 cm and features over 30 points of articulation throughout its body. To minimize exposed joint parts and faithfully recreate his on-screen appearance, the entire body's frame is covered with special fabric, meticulously painted with multiple layers of silver, blue, and black. This significantly reproduces the texture of the costume from the series, allowing for dynamic poses without revealing any unsightly gaps.
The entire body armor, chest energy converter, and the GRAN ACCEPTOR on the left arm all feature intricate sculpting and painting. The head's super electronic eyes not only replicate the complex, multifaceted texture but are also expected to house an internal LED light module to make both eyes glow. As for accessories, in addition to 3 pairs of interchangeable hands, his signature weapons, the "Plasma Blade" and "Barrier Shield," are naturally planned for inclusion. These also feature mechanisms to combine into two forms: the "Gridman Sword" and "Thunder Axe."
