The Gunpla "MG (Master Grade)" series, released by the HOBBY Division of BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd. Japan, which incorporates the latest technology, complete part separation, and high posability, today announced the latest product from the MSV side story "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ECLIPSE", "MG 1/100 Eclipse Gundam Unit 2", following Eclipse Gundam Unit 1. It will soon be sold exclusively on BANDAI's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The protagonist mobile suit MVF-X08 Eclipse Gundam, which appeared in the official MSV side story manga "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ECLIPSE", is a mobile suit secretly developed by the Orb Union in C.E. 72 and operated by the "Orb International Rescue Team (ODR)". It is currently known that two units of this model were produced. This unit analyzed and utilized parts of the Freedom Gundam's high-strength frame structure and designed its own MA (Mobile Armor) form transformation mechanism. In MA form, it can achieve high-altitude supersonic flight. This unit is also equipped with "Mirage Colloid" functionality for stealth operations and is armed with a beam rifle, beam saber, and beam shields located on both arms. It can also support the "Striker Pack" system, allowing for equipment changes based on mission requirements.
The "MG 1/100 Eclipse Gundam Unit 2" is a modification based on the Unit 1 kit. In addition to changing the molded colors to a red and black scheme, it also uses new parts to recreate a head resembling the Justice Gundam, several armor designs different from Unit 1, and its dedicated armaments. The prototype has currently been exhibited at the 61st Shizuoka Hobby Show. It can be seen that the transformation mechanism from MS to MA is essentially the same as Unit 1.
