Japan's official "Mobile Suit Gundam" Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, recently announced its latest in-store exclusive product, the "HG 1/144 GM / GM II / GM III Set" from "Mobile Suit Gundam," scheduled for release starting June 10, 2023.
The RGM-79 GM is a mass-produced mobile suit developed from the actual combat data of the RX-78-2 Gundam, with mass production beginning in the latter half of the One Year War. Its design focused on simplifying the mobile suit's structure and reducing construction costs to improve productivity. While its performance was inferior to the Gundam, its advantages lay in rapid and mass production, relatively easy operation, and high versatility, allowing for modifications based on pilot or mission requirements. As mobile suit technology advanced, the GM also saw successive generations of improved successor units like the "GM II" and "GM III" released in various eras.
The "HG 1/144 GM / GM II / GM III Set" includes HG kits of the GM, GM II, and GM III, forming a heartwarming three-generation family. All three kits were originally released over 10 years ago, and while their color separation and part division may not be as advanced as recently designed Gunpla, they largely recreate the sophisticated armor designs from the original settings. The set also includes original water-slide decals, allowing for richer body marking details on the mobile suits.
