Released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., the transforming alloy model series『HI-METAL R』recently announced its latest commemorative product, the "VF-1A Valkyrie (Maximilian Jenius Custom)," scheduled for release in November 2023, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the popular sci-fi anime 'Macross'.
Appearing in the original 1982 'Macross,' the variable fighter VF-1 Valkyrie is one of the most iconic mecha in the series, playing a crucial role in the "First Space War" between Earthlings and Zentradi. This machine was developed by the U.N. Spacy using advanced alien technology acquired from an alien battleship, equipped with a nuclear fusion turbofan engine capable of continuous flight for 700 hours within an atmospheric environment. To combat the Zentradi, who are much larger than humans, it also features a three-stage transformation mechanism, changing from a fighter jet to a robot. Its extreme versatility led to the development of various specifications, with the VF-1A being the mass-produced variant piloted by regular soldiers.
The "HI-METAL R VF-1A Valkyrie (Maximilian Jenius Custom)" is a modification of previously released VF-1 series models. It meticulously reproduces the characteristic white and blue color scheme and fuselage markings based on the TV anime settings. It also features precise articulated joints and a transforming mechanism design, faithfully recreating the impressive three-stage transformation. Furthermore, in Battroid mode, the "abdominal detail enhancement parts" can be replaced to significantly enhance the detailed sculpting.
Accessories include landing gear, a GUNPOD, missiles, a pilot figure, and five types of left and three types of right round-shaped hands to recreate the TV anime settings. Additionally, a blue dedicated display stand made of clear material is included. When displayed alongside the separately sold "VF-1J Armored Valkyrie (Hikaru Ichijo Custom) Revival Ver." and "VF-1A Valkyrie (Hayao Kakizaki Custom)," you can recreate the Vermilion Team's brief reunion!
