Following the release of the Joker from the acclaimed Batman comic masterpiece The Dark Knight Returns, MEDICOM TOY, a renowned Japanese toy company, is set to release a new 6-inch MAFEX action figure series featuring a Variant Suit version of The Joker in February 2024!
This figure stands approximately 16 cm tall and is designed based on another suit worn by The Joker in the comic. The herringbone pattern on the suit jacket is particularly striking, complemented by black trousers and purple leather shoes, perfectly recreating his stage appearance. It includes two head sculpts: one showcasing a malevolent grin and another with closed eyes, lost in his own world. Accessories include two knives, a lipstick, and two cotton candy pieces, referencing the scene where The Joker hands out "free cotton candy" to children from a booth in the comic. However, in the original comic, he was wearing his white suit version when distributing cotton candy, so pairing this figure with the previous Joker release would be more faithful to the source material.
Overall, this editor personally finds the evil grin head sculpt to be outstanding. However, the accessories and styling might appeal more to dedicated comic fans, making it a niche release. Collectors who are big fans of Frank Miller should definitely consider adding this to their collection.
