Following the already released Kamen Rider No. 1 from the popular S.H.Figuarts action figure series, issued by BANDAI SPIRITS' collector's toy division TAMASHII NATIONS, today officially announced the latest product from "Shin Kamen Rider," "Takeshi Hongo," scheduled for release in December 2023.
Released in March 2023, "Shin Kamen Rider" is a 50th-anniversary commemorative work for Kamen Rider, a reinterpretation by director Hideaki Anno based on the original "Kamen Rider." Rising star Sosuke Ikematsu plays the new generation's Takeshi Hongo, offering audiences a fresh story where Kamen Rider No. 1 and No. 2 team up to fight the mysterious organization "SHOCKER," presented in a modern style infused with nostalgic elements. Naturally, the design of Kamen Rider No. 1, transformed by protagonist Takeshi Hongo, has also been appropriately refreshed, retaining its original silhouette while given a cooler, more mechanical and bio-organic design, along with a new setting featuring a flesh-toned neck and exposed hair.
The "S.H.Figuarts Takeshi Hongo" is modified from the Kamen Rider No. 1 body, with a highly articulated 14.5 cm tall specification faithfully reproducing the in-show appearance. Metallic paint is used for details to recreate the rivets on the helmet and armor, as well as the mechanical details on the belt. The distinctive red windmill in the center of the "Typhoon" transformation belt also features exquisitely sculpted blades, allowing for flexible posing to recreate scenes from the show.
Unlike the "Kamen Rider No. 1" release, this version includes interchangeable head parts for both pre-transformation and post-transformation, utilizing Bandai's digital printing technology to recreate the head sculpt of Sosuke Ikematsu, who portrays Takeshi Hongo. It also comes with a handheld Kamen Rider helmet part for display. Furthermore, the red scarf, which was plastic in the previous release, has been upgraded to fabric material in this version, allowing for desired shaping with its embedded metal wire.
