Unbox Industries - Ayako Ishiguro × Go Nagai: Devilnyan – A 3D Realization of Evil Charm & Cuteness!

Hong Kong's renowned toy manufacturer Unbox Industries has previously released numerous Devilman collaboration works created by master artists, including: Mike Sutfin, Neo-Lash Devilman by Mutant Vinyl Hardcore, Devilman x Molly by Kenny Wong, and more. Today, Unbox Industries unveiled its latest creation, a collaboration with the celebrated picture book author and yokai artist Ayako Ishiguro, to launch "Devilnyan".

Ayako Ishiguro, born in 1973, is a painter and picture book author, skilled in depicting various yokai (supernatural beings) and fantastical creatures. Ishiguro never attended any specialized art school or apprenticed under any painter, completely honing her skills and establishing her style through self-study. At the age of 20, her artistic style was criticized by others, leading her to be unable to paint for a long period. It wasn't until she saw the famous work "Hyakki Yagyō Zu" (Night Parade of One Hundred Demons) by Ukiyo-e artist Kawanabe Kyōsai that she was deeply influenced and resumed painting. She eventually published multiple picture books and illustration collections, becoming a renowned yokai artist.

Ayako Ishiguro, herself a fan of Devilman, has reinterpreted Master Go Nagai's classic character, Devilman, by blending it with her signature mischievous cat yokai style, creating the new character 'Devilnyan'. Unbox Industries has utilized its exquisite craftsmanship to bring Ishiguro Ayako's creation to life in three dimensions. The impressive 23 cm size, brimming with presence, faithfully captures every detail, from its expression and posture to the texture of its fur. Furthermore, transparent parts have been used to craft the flames on its tail, further enhancing its demonic aura!
