BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division, Japan, today announced the latest product from "Gundam Build Metaverse" in the 'HG (High Grade)' series, the most diverse range of 1/144 scale Gunpla mobile suits: "HG 1/144 Large Mobile Suit (Provisional Name)", scheduled for release in December 2023.
The new series, "Gundam Build Metaverse", which will air all 3 episodes in October, is set in a new online service for the Gunpla world called "Metaverse". In this virtual space, users can explore with their avatars, interact with others, engage in Gunpla battles, and even purchase actual Gunpla products. The protagonist who arrives in this new world is a boy named Hojo Rio. In the real world, he learned Gunpla building techniques from his Gunpla classroom teacher, Urutsuki Seria, and his battle skills were taught by the mysterious Masked Lady in the Metaverse. Rio not only completed his original Gunpla, "Shining Gundam", but also steadily improved his battle prowess, encountering various experts who had participated in Gunpla battles in the Metaverse.
This Large Mobile Suit (Provisional Name) has only appeared in the main visual so far, with no other mobile suit information disclosed. However, from its silhouette, the overall structure resembles the gigantic armaments of the TR series in AOZ, possessing the same arm design as the Psycho Gundam, while its core is a normal-sized Gundam-head mobile suit. The kit is priced as high as 8,000 JPY, suggesting it will have a massive size comparable to or even larger than the Psycho Gundam.
